On August 25-28 2014 with the support of the Leontief Centre held the first working visiting to Kazan famous Danish urbanist Jan Gehl and director, head of planning and development of public urban spaces «Gehl Architects» Vamberg Henriette. From the Leontief Centre in workshops and seminars attended by scientists Secretary ICSER "Leontief Centre" Elena Belova. 

During the visit, on August 26, at City Hall held a Jan Gehl meeting with the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin. On  August 27 at the House of the Government of RT Ian Gale met with President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The sides discussed issues of cooperation in the field of urban planning, using the experience of foreign countries in the formation of modern cities and urban infrastructure. The meeting was attended by Assistant to the President of the RT Olesya Baltusova, Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan Irek Faizullin, economy minister Midhat Shagiakhmetov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin etc. 

On August 27, Kazan State Architecture and Construction University Jan Gehl spoke on "Cities for people of the 21st century", in the framework of the project site "Space, Infrastructure, Real Capital" on the draft Strategy for Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Tatarstan for the period up to 2030. The workshop brought together more than 130 people - representatives of regional and municipal authorities, businesses, specialized public and scientific organizations involved in land use planning, landscaping, etc. Advice received from experts, such as the need to thoroughly analyze the urban space, creating pedestrian zones and encourage cycling and public transport, will be used in the design of public spaces in the framework of developing the Strategy for Socio-Economic Development of the Republic of Tatarstan.
