On the 15th of May Round table "New Competences for Urbanism in the 21st century" was held in frames of International Conference "Education and World Cities: BRICS Perspectives". Round table was organized by Leontief Centre jointly with Interfaculty Base Department of HSE - St. Petersburg. At the Round table experts discussed current challenges of urban planning, compliance of educational standards in city planning to its current needs, use of information technologies, need for an interdisciplinary approach to the urbanists education etc. Leonid Limonov, Director-Coordinator of Research Programs at the Leontief Centre, Professor of HSE - St. Petersburg was moderator of the discussion. The Round table was attended by leaders and experts from leading institutions and educational programs from Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as leading foreign urbanists - Professor Pedro Novais (Brazil), Ivao Ohashi (Japan) and Paulo Ferrau (Portugal).
