2011-02-10 :: The Institute for Urban Economics is 15 years of age!

The Institute for Urban Economics is 15 years of age! Leontief Centre congratulated colleagues. Boris Zhikharevich, Director of Resource Centre on Strategic Planning under Leontief Centre, attended a meeting: Cities of Russia After the Crisis: New Opportunities or Old Limitations?, dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Fund.
 
Prospects of Russian cities development and their ability to meet successfully new challenges of the modern era, including the place and role of cities in the socio-economic development, the potential of local communities self-organization, strengthening partnerships with business aimed to develop local government and changes in the quality of the urban environment were discussed at the meeting.
 
In the framework of the meeting four session were held: 
 
Session 1. Can the Russian cities be the subjects of development?
Session 2. Can a Russian citizen become a national?
Session 3. Is it possible to change the urban environment?
Session 4. City and Business: Can interests meet?
 
Boris Zhikharevich was the panelist of fourth session.
