On May 23, L.E. Limonov, Director and Coordinator of Research Programs at the Leontief Center for Social and Economic Research, participated in the strategic session of the business program of the 6th International Transport Festival TransportFest, titled "The Role and Place of the Federal Project Public Transport Development in the National Project Infrastructure for Life," and delivered a report titled "Transportation Problems of the Metropolitan Area and Quality of Life."
The session discussed transport problems in metropolitan areas and the role of public transport in addressing them. It also discussed coordination between the "Public Transport Development" federal program and federal projects within the "Infrastructure for Life" non-profit partnership (NP)—"Housing," "Infrastructure Development in Populated Areas," and "Creating a Comfortable Urban Environment." It also discussed how the "Public Transport Development" federal program can and should address existing imbalances between the established urban planning-development-population density formats and the prevailing mobility formats. The session also explored the role of domestic transport engineering in implementing the "Infrastructure for Life" non-profit partnership, international experience in public transport development, and the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed rail project.
The business program of the International Transport Festival "TransportFest" brings together specialists to discuss current issues and development prospects in the transport industry, as well as present developments and share experiences.
Participants in the business program include executives and representatives of federal and regional government bodies, transport companies and transport associations, higher education institutions, secondary specialized educational institutions, and research institutes, manufacturers of on-board equipment, components, and rolling stock, and manufacturers of gas refueling and charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
