2021-05-20 :: Series of Seminars “Economics and Culture”

In January-May 2021, the series of eight seminars “Economics and Culture” was held in St. Petersburg.

  • On February 18, Arthur Mustafin, Higher School of Economics, Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, gave the presentation “Reforms of Peter I and Western European Models: The Role of Baron von Luberas”. The seminar was held in a hybrid format. Watch the seminar recording
  • On February 27-28, the seminar out of the series “Economics and Culture” took place in Zelenogorsk. The seminar participants presented the results of research projects. The seminar was held in an in-person format.
  • On March 25, Jeffrey Hass, University of Richmond (USA), St. Petersburg State University, gave the presentation “Practices of Political Economy Under Siege: Bolshevism and the Blockade of Leningrad”. The seminar took place via video conference. Watch the seminar recording
  • On April 15, Ivan Boldyrev, Radboud University Nijmegen (Netherlands), gave the presentation “John von Neumann and Leonid Kantorovich: Historical Episodes and Open Questions”. The seminar took place via video conference. Watch the seminar recording
  • On April 22, Maksim Kulaev, University of Tartu (Estonia), St. Petersburg State University, gave the presentation “The Problem of Timeliness in the Works of Peter Tkachev and Vladimir Lenin”. The seminar was held in a hybrid format. Watch the seminar recording
  • On May 19, the extended seminar out of the series “Economics and Culture” — the round table “Labour, Leisure and Education in the Era of Digitalization” was held. The seminar was held in an in-person format. Watch the seminar recordings: part one, part two
  • On May 20, online presentation of the Russian translation of the book by Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo “Good Economics for Hard Times: Better Answers to Our Biggest Problems” was held as part of the seminar out of the series “Economics and Culture”. The keynote address was given by Abhijit Banerjee, 2019 Nobel Prize Winner in Economics. Maxim Markov, St. Petersburg State University, Translator of the Publication, took an active part in the seminar. The seminar was moderated by Danila Raskov, ICSER Leontief Centre, St. Petersburg State University, Science Editor of Translation of the Publication into Russian.   • On May 20, the seminar out of the series “Economics and Culture” was held. The seminar participants presented the results of research projects.
