2018-05-28 :: “Cities.Multimodal: Change Cities – from Car Orientation to Sustainable Urban Mobility”: Meeting of the Project Working Group (Pskov)

Modeling and design of sustainable urban transportation systems was the main topic of the working group meeting of the project “Cities.Multimodal: Change Cities – From Car Orientation to Sustainable Urban Mobility”, being a part of the INTERREG Baltic Sea Region Programme. The meeting was held at the Pskov City Administration on May 28.

The keynote addresses were delivered by experts – representatives of the Project on developing sustainable mobility and transportation planning: Olga Iakimenko, Head of Internet Projects and Marketing Communications at ICSER Leontief Centre and Alexey Levashev, Associate Professor of the Department of Transport Management and Logistics, Irkutsk National Research Technical University. Experts have shown how to create a sustainable multimodal transportation system in Pskov through the example of successful projects in Russian cities (Irkutsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Novosibirsk, Kaliningrad, Khabarovsk, Tyumen, Novorossiysk, Kazan, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg) and international best practices.

The project “Cities.Multimodal” focuses on developing and implementing strategic approaches and integrated solutions for the safe and efficient operation of the Pskov’s transportation system. The project wants to develop walking, cycling, public transport and car-sharing as an environmentally friendly alternative to driving.
